Academic Recognition

Honors Notation for Graduation:

Students who complete all units used for graduation with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher will graduate with honors. Students whose grade point average is 4.0 will graduate with high honors. All grades and units earned at other colleges, including Allan Hancock College, are used in computing the student's grade point average for graduation.

Dean’s List

Upon grade finalization for every semester, students who complete 12 units or more in letter-graded courses with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher will be placed on the Dean’s List and will receive notification from the office of the Superintendent/President via the student’s myHancock email account.

Pass/No Pass graded courses are not included in the 12 or more units completed.

Examples:

  • A student is enrolled in 12 units:

When grades are finalized for that semester, the student completes 3 units with a P grade, and 9 units with letter grades with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. This student would not be on the Dean’s list, because not all 12 units were letter-graded.

  • A student is enrolled in 15 units:

When grades are finalized for that semester, the student completes 3 units with a P grade, and 12 units with letter grades and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. This student would be on the Dean’s list, because 12 units were letter-graded

  • A student is enrolled in 12 or more units:

When grades are finalized for that semester, the student completes 12 or more units with letter grades and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. This student would be on the Dean’s list, because all units were letter graded and the overall grade point average for that semester is 3.5 or higher.
