START Retest Policy
All students may retake the START placement test once under the following conditions:
- At least two weeks have passed since the first test (to allow for extra study and
- The original test scores are within 5 points of reaching the next placement level
of math, English, and/or ESL.
If students do not meet the conditions, a matriculation appeal may be filed in the
Accuplacer test scores for English, reading, and ESL placement do not expire, and
students are not required to reassess. For math placement, a student's Accuplacer
test scores are valid for a period of three years. If a student does not enroll in
a credit math course within three years from their initial assessment, the student
is referred to reassess for math placement. The only exception to this recency requirement
is students who earned a grade of "C-" or better in high school geometry may use their
high school transcript for prerequisite clearance of geometry with no time limit.
