The Orfalea Children's Center Lab
The Orfalea Children's Center Lab School, housed in the Family and Consumer Education Center (Building I), provides quality care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers between three months and five years of age.
The center serves as the lab school for Early Childhood Studies students, who assist
the credentialed staff in providing an enriched learning environment designed to foster
social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth for young children.
Lab schools serve to provide enriching learning opportunities to Early Childhood Studies
students, who are aspiring educators.
The Orfalea and Lompoc Children's Center Lab School is open for:
Fall & Spring Hours Monday – Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m
Summer Hours Monday - Thursday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Children's Resource & Referral of Santa Barbara County
The mission of the Children's Resource & Referral of Santa Barbara County is to provide
families with education, care, and resources for children, guardians, parents and
caregivers.
Assistance includes finding child care, financial assistance for child care, child
care referrals, and educational support.

CalFresh, a nutrition assistance program that helps low income individuals and families buy food
that they need. CalFresh is extra money to help meet your food needs.

Women, Infants & Chldren Programs (WIC)
The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
provides federal grants to states for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and
nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding
postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age 5 who are found to be at nutritional
risk.
Every Thursday of the month, students are welcomed to pick up non-perishable food and produce at the Mechanics Bank student center patio located on the South side of building G.
Services are provided at both AHC sites:
Santa Maria, starting at 11:30 a.m.
LVC, starting at 2:30 p.m.
Spike's Snack Shack (Previously Lunch Locker)
Spike's Snack Shack is designed for students to have access to non-perishable food items on Monday- Friday. The shack is accessible to students in both the Lompoc and Santa Maria campuses. Students may grab 3 snacks per day.

Food Bank of Santa Barbara County
The food bank is a great resource for individuals to utilize and get access to food,
education, and other resources within their communities.

The lactation room is accessible to any AHC student or employee and are intended to
serve as a convenient, private and comfortable space where parents can express breast
milk or nurse while at work or attending class.

CCAMPIS

Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS)
-
- Provides no-cost and low-cost quality childcare services for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a state certified preschool to enable student-parents to remain in school.
- Coordinates the delivery of comprehensive personal and academic support services to participating parents via the Center’s extensive network of on-campus and community-based services.
- Provides unit-bearing practicum experience in the Children’s Center Lab School for Early Childhood Studies (ECS) students.
- Engages families as partners in their child’s education by participating in Center and home-based activities that support early literacy and healthy child development.
- Provides Twilight Childcare Program
- Summer: 5:45-9:15pm M-Th
- Fall and Spring: 6:15-9:45pm M-Th
- Provides research-based supplemental educational materials to support early literacy in the home.

AHC students who are parents with dependent children under age 18 may qualify for
priority registration!
Priority registration for Fall 2023-2024 is July 1st!
Allan Hancock College has partnered with the Santa Maria Regional Transit (SMRT), formerly the Santa Maria Area Transit (SMAT), to offer free student bus passes to all currently enrolled Allan Hancock College students active for the term they are enrolled in.
Visit Transportation within Basic Needs, for help downloading the SMRT App. Other support includes Bus
passes to Lompoc and San Luis Obispo County.
