How to Register for CWE


In order to participate in the Cooperative Work Experience (CWE) course, the following steps must be completed: Refer to the Student Handbook for more information.


Secure a Job/Internship

Students must secure an internship or job opportunity with an employer either independently or with the assistance of the Career Center,  CWE staff, instructors, or other personal contacts. Don’t forget to check out the internship resource tab on the CWE website.

Apply to Hancock

If you are not a current student at Allan Hancock College, submit an admissions application online.

Preregister for CWE

Prior to enrollment, the CWE Specialist needs the following information:

  • Where you work
  • What is your job title/duties
  • What is your major or course of study
  • How many hours you work per week
  • Is your job/internship paid or non-paid

Complete the Preregistration Form

Calculate the number of hours you work per week to know how many units to register for. Please see table below.

The CWE staff will respond within 1-2 business days with the correct course and CRN to complete registration.


Attend Orientation

Attend the In-person Mandatory Orientation if it is available. The in-person orientation is currently replaced by the online orientation and can be found by clicking on the CWE Online Orientation.

You will need to notify the CWE Specialist by email at after you complete viewing the online orientation.

It is the responsibility of the student to thoroughly read the instructions and to complete each of the registration steps.


Complete Paperwork

If the forms are not turned in to the CWE Instructor by the deadlines, you may be dropped. Please notify CWE staff at 1-805-922-6966, ext. 3421 with any questions or email to set up appointment.

Complete by first week of term

Complete or turn in by end of term

IMPORTANT: If deadlines for the paperwork or any other requirement are not met, throughout the registration process, you may be dropped from the class. It is the responsibility of the student to withdraw or drop from a class that they have decided not to participate in! Not completing the course work will result in an “F” Grade.
