You can participate in the entire design experience at Hancock, from design fundamentals, digital Illustration and publishing to typography, 3D modeling, portfolio and website development.  Students are taught the process of design with emphasis on conceptual development and planning and then guided to best practices of implementation. Courses are appropriate for students who want to build skills to get entry level jobs in the Graphic Design and Media Arts industries or who plan to transfer to a university.

Students enroll in courses that provide opportunities to build skills and portfolios for entry level-jobs or for transferring to a university. You can earn an Associate Degree or Certificate in Graphic Design. Graduates earning the Graphic Design degree are prepared for upper division courses and may choose to transfer to universities that have strong design programs including: Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California State University San Jose, California State University Long Beach, or California State University Fullerton.

The Graphic Design program maintains a state-of-the-art graphics studio equipped with iMac computers, Cintiq monitors, large format ink jet printers, 3D printers and a digital press. The program has a separate lecture space equipped with professional mat cutters, traditional tools for developing hand-crafting skills, portfolio development and design project mock-ups. Hancock’s Graphic Design program has graduates that are employed as designers in local design firms, print shops and 3D modeling companies, large corporations like LinkedIn or as self-employed freelance designers and illustrators.
