Guiding Principles

  1. AHC will change the odds for students by continuing to provide quality instruction while improving time to completion.
  2. AHC will continue to value and appreciate equity and diversity.
  3. AHC will ensure a positive community presence by responding to community needs, including outreach to nontraditional students.
  4. AHC will strive to ensure fiscal integrity and management of resources by implementing sound scheduling practices based on relevant metrics and goals.

    1. Accelerate basic skills progression to college readiness
      1. Promote accelerated courses and summer bridge
      2. Maintain the Bridges to Success program and other collaborative meetings
      3. Explore the use of AB 288 to offer pre-collegiate courses in high schools
      4. Respond to AB 705
      5. Implement, promote, and evaluate Multiple Measures placement
    2. Develop, implement, and monitor retention strategies to ensure timely completion
    3. Implement Road Maps to Success (guided pathways)
    4. Implement the Promise Program to increase the college going rates of feeder high school students
    5. Explore scheduling practices such as weekend and emeritus college
    6. Reduce the cost of attending college by offering courses with zero textbook costs
    7. Increase completion of student outcomes, including transfer, degree and certificate completion, and job placement rates
