Get ready for finals with research help, tutoring and snacks! Join us for the spring Study-a-Thon event May 17, 18, 19, and 23 from 5-10pm in the SM campus library and from 4-6pm at the LVC library.
The library is thrilled to present our first Big Library Read title: Music is History by Questlove! The Big Library Read (BLR) is a free reading program facilitated by our eBook platform OverDrive that connects readers around the world with the same eBook at the same time without any wait lists or holds. Our library is providing access to this BLR title for our campus from April 4th thru April 18th. Access this title via the AHC Overdrive site beginning April 4th: https://hancockcollege.overdrive.com/ or download the Libby app (both use the campus SSO to access)

The library will be holding a return event for laptops/hotspots checked out from the library or through IT the last week of the Spring Semester at the Santa Maria campus and the Lompoc Valley Center on the following dates and times: Santa Maria Campus: Monday, May 17, from 8:30 am - 5 pm. Tuesday, May 18, from 8:30 am - 5 pm. Wednesday, May 19, from 8:30 am - 5 pm. Lompoc Valley Center Campus: Tuesday, May 18, from 3 pm - 6 pm Wednesday, May 19, from 9 am - 12 pm Thursday, May 20, from 4 pm - 8 pm If you will need a hotspot/laptop or a textbook for the upcoming Summer Semester, you will be able to submit your hold request starting Tuesday June 1, 2021. If you need a hotspot/laptop or textbook for the Fall Semester, you can submit your hold request starting Tuesday, August 3, through the library catalog.
The library is now the home of the textbook lending program Books for Bulldogs. This is a service that allows AHC students to request textbooks for the duration of the semester. More information about the program can be found at https://www.hancockcollege.edu/booklending/. Be sure to place your request early, as supplies are limited!
In February and March of 2020, the Friends of the AHC Library sponsored a series of free lectures presented by AHC faculty on the topic of the play Julius Caesar (in conjunction with PCPA's production of it). Friends of the Library Book Club: The Friends of the Allan Hancock College Library invites all staff and faculty to participate in timely discussions, develop relationships with peers and mentors, gain a fresh perspective, and re-energize as a team, all through a monthly Book Club! We will be reading a variety of genres to include a mix of fiction and non-fiction. The March pick is The Undocumented Americans by Karla Conejo Villavicencio.
