Are you interested in using technology to design creative solutions? Do you want to learn more about machine operation? If so, the machining and manufacturing technology program might be the right fit for you!
Allan Hancock College’s machining and manufacturing technology program is designed to give new students and working professionals the practical, hands-on education they need to succeed in a variety of manufacturing positions. Students learn how to function safely and effectively in a manufacturing setting while learning such skills as operating conventional and computer numerical controlled (CNC) machinery, programming CNC machinery, using various CAD/CAM systems, and interpreting blueprints.
Upon completion, students will be prepared for entry-level jobs, such as: manual machine operators, computer numerical control operators, computer-aided drafting and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) designers, and manufacturing generalists and programmers. In addition, the machining and manufacturing technology degree is structured to encourage transfer to a four-year college or university.
This program will help you to:
- function effectively in a manufacturing environment containing a variety of production, welding, machining, and metal-forming or CNC equipment
- develop technical knowledge skills
- operate and program Computer Numberal Control (CNC) machinery
- communicate effectively
- interpret instructions
