If so, consider signing up for Spanish 189: Independent Project. Spanish 189 is offered during Fall and Spring.

The process for registering for Spanish 189 is the following:

  1. The student meets with the professor individually or attend the orientation meeting a week before the semester begins to discuss the research topic of interest and complete the Independent Project Contract.
  2. Once the student completes the contract with the help of the professor and signs it, the professor keeps the contract to gather the department chair and dean's signatures and obtain approval.
  3. Once the request has been approved by the dean, there is a waiting time until the student received the CRN# to register for the class from the Dean’s office.
  4. Once the CRN# is created, the Dean's secretary will email the student to add the class via myHancock using the CRN# provided. The professor will follow up to make sure the student has enrolled in the class.
  5. Then, throughout the semester, the student reaches out to the professor as needed to discuss the research project concerns or questions.
  6. Finally, students submit all their required assignments via Canvas at the end of the semester as stipulated by the professor.
