Registration Holds

Any hold that prevents registration, which is placed on a student account at Allan Hancock College, will prevent a student from the following:

  • Adding classes
  • Dropping classes on myHancock portal

It is the student's responsibility to clear holds in a timely manner. Holds for CA residency and other hold types as indicated in the Hold Type Descriptions, must be resolved with the department that requested the placement of the hold, as referenced in the hold type description.

Student Account Fee Holds

To see if you have a hold, sign into your myHancock portal, select the "Fees and Balances" link and then select the "View fees and deadlines" link. Enter the current term and press submit. The "Any Active Holds" section will display all active holds on your student account.

If you have a fee hold, the description will indicate what the hold is for and if you need to contact a department directly. If you have a hold for a non-returned item, (library book, athletic equipment, math center calculator, etc.) you must return that item directly to the department or pay the replacement charge that as been placed on your student account. Once the item has been returned or the charge paid, the hold will be removed within 24 hours.
