Dear AHC Community,
In an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, the CAN-TRIO department has transitioned to serving students in a remote environment.
CAN-TRIO staff are now available to serve you through other methods. We are able to assist you via telephone, email, and video-conferencing. We encourage you to find the method that fits your needs.
We know this is a time of uncertainty and concern for many of you, and we want to reassure you that although we may not be able to offer in-person services at this time, we will continue to be available to assist you.
We are committed to continue to offer excellent services, while also protecting the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and community. We thank you and appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we navigate through these challenging times. Please stay healthy!

Who we are
The College Achievement Now (CAN) - TRIO (Student Support Services) program is federally-funded college retention, graduation, and transfer program. There are more than 2,800 TRIO programs nationally created to help over 800,000 students overcome class, social, and cultural barriers.
The program provides a variety of services to students who are first generation college students, economically disadvantaged, and students with disabilities evidencing academic need. Our staff is committed to supporting student success! CAN students are bright, motivated, and goal-oriented scholars who are looking for support to achieve their goals.
What We Do
The purpose of our program is to increase retention rates at Allan Hancock College, as well as increase transfer rates to a four-year, higher learning institution. We aim to help students achieve and maintain academic success. Our students are expected to keep a satisfactory overall GPA, attend scheduled events, meet federally mandated objectives, and to complete their Hancock education in less than four years. See our “Program Benefits” section for more information about our services.
THE APPLICATION PERIOD is ongoing. In general, admittance to the program is on a first-come, first-served basis. Our funding determines the number of students we serve, which is a total of 140 actively enrolled Allan Hancock students. See our “How to Apply” and “FAQ” sections for more information about the application process and a downloadable application. Applications can also be picked up at building A, room 211 (upstairs from Financial Aid).
